Dr. Irv Rubenstein contributes to journal article on lunges

PRESS RELEASE

Dr. Irv Rubenstein, co-founder and president of STEPS Fitness, Nashville’s first personal training center (circa 1989), has been a leader in personal fitness training and science since opening STEPS. He has spent years providing educational training for fitness professionals in a variety of capacities, as a presenter for Exercise ETC and an author of book sections on the field and other print and online venues.

However, since he’s been out of academia since getting his Ph.D. from Vanderbilt-Peabody (Nashville), he’s not had much opportunity to participate in original research. Thanks to his friend and colleague, Dr. Rafael Escamilla, physical therapy professor at California State University,  Sacramento, Dr. Irv was able to provide collaborative review of the article, “Patellofemoral Joint Loading During the Performance of the Forward and Side Lunge with Step Height Variations,” soon to be published in International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy Vol. 17, Issue 2, 2022.

“Being a long time speaker and promoter of the practical value and benefits of the forward and side-stepping lunge, for clients and fitness pros alike, having this opportunity to contribute to the science of this most-foundational exercise was an honor. That Dr. Escamilla asked for my input and included my name on this list of internationally-renowned authors of this article was more than I could have expected as a non-academic professional. I thank him and our fellow authors for this opportunity to advance the science of fitness,” said Dr. Irv.

For more information, please contact Dr. Irv through this website’s contact information or directly at irvrube@gmail.com.
