Part 1: The Diet-Obesity Debates Continue

Another Theory on Why Some Folks Are Obese?

Happy New Year! It’s that time of year when, again, so many of us promise that we’re going to shed excess weight by eating righter or better or less – nah, nobody actually commits to the latter – and exercise more. As a gym owner, you might think I would be one of those who’dRead More

The Greatest, Bigliest Exercise Ever

Weight loss and weight management are major bugaboos for the fitness/wellness world, not because they’re not useful draws and marketing ideas but because they’re so very hard to do, like breaking up. As I’ve posted so many times before, the science of weight loss is still very much in the air with really only oneRead More

On Intermittent Fasting: Better than other low-cal diets?

There are many ways to diet for weight loss but every single one of them require reducing caloric intake. Every diet, every diet book, and every diet guru merely promotes a way of making calorie reduction palatable. This is done by making recipes that supplant the many trigger foods or components, like sugar, fats, whiteRead More

October 2017 The ‘Obesity Paradox’ Paradox What if a paradox is demonstrated to not be so paradoxical after all? Can a paradox be a double negative? The “obesity paradox”, developed in 1999 from observations that patients undergoing dialysis for end-stage kidney disease had lesser mortality if overweight or obese (BMI of 25-29.9 and 30-34.9, respectively)Read More

When Food Diversity Isn’t the Answer

There are nearly as many diets for weight loss in the media and at the country club, let alone at the gym, as there are people needing to lose weight. Likewise, there are nearly as many diets everywhere you see people who otherwise look or are lean. But science keeps trying to find that oneRead More

I met Dr. Irv through a friend of mine who totally transformed her health with his expertise. I had a hip replacement from a bad fall and I’ve struggled with tight hips, limited range of motion, bursitis and Arthritis. I turned 60 last fall and I knew if I was ever going to get better I had to go to someone that understood what I was dealing with. I knew I had the motivation, I just needed the right help. Irv was my answer. In my first assessment he knew quite quickly where I needed to work on my body to get my strength back and that range of motion I had been missing. I’m so happy to say I’m on my way and I feel 100% better because of what Irv has shown me for the right exercise, nutrition and complete wellness. I have found a new home for complete recovery at Steps and with Irv. I highly recommend to anyone who thinks their body will never be the same again to go here, see Irv and take your body and your life back!
