Walking in Wellness into Your Waning Years

We have all read and heard and watched exercise and medical professionals espouse the benefits of exercise. We have all heard about how being fit reduces your risk of many diseases – heart, brain, musculoskeletal, etc – and that the sooner you get to it, the better off you’ll be. But what about getting toRead More

The Heritability of Your Fitness Traits

You know your height, hair color, eye color, skin texture, intelligence, etc are things that get passed on from your ancestors through genes, but did you know that there are limits and capacities for your strength, endurance, ability to improve fitness, etc are also heritable? Well, this article in the Express Tribune with the NYTRead More

Bone Density vs Bone Quality vs Falling: What Works and How?

If only it were as simple as some people say: Just walk for better health. But that is such a minimalist approach that may not yield even minimal benefits. We tend to believe that walking is enough to protect the heart, reduce the waistline, maintain or even build better bones, and reduce our risk forRead More

Why Fitness – and Exercise – Training is STRONGLY Recommended

Of course, you’d expect a fitness specialist, a personal trainer, and an exercise scientist to promote the regularity and consistency of exercise and fitness practices for overall health and well-being. Of course, that’s what I do all day. But sometimes the research is just so damn compelling that not sharing it would be like withholdingRead More

Protein Needs Ramp Up as You Slow Down

Tufts Health & Nutrition Letter is a monthly that offers the best and most current nutrition science available. For those who are into alternative health news, especially alternative nutritional guidance, Tufts is the “establishment”. For the rest of us, though, where science is more important than conjecture based on some less-than-ideal reading of the literature,Read More

Sit Your Way to Death

There has been much written over the past five decades on the benefits of exercise to counter the effects of modern, industrial Western society. But only in the past decade or so has much attention been spent looking at the detriments of this modern life we live. That is, the science of sedentariness is onlyRead More

The Unadulterated Value of Exercise vs the Over-hyped Value of Diets and Supplements

Trying to keep up with what’s going on in the fitness/wellness sciences is difficult. Every time some new ‘thing’ hits the media, it stirs up interest from many of my clients in the meaning and value this new thing presents. They trust me to sift through the BS and provide a PhD view of it.Read More

Older Adult or Senior Fitness: Exercise Is the Best Medicine for Fall Prevention and Quality of Life As We Age

Exercise for older adults is now being recommended not to help folks live longer but to live better, more fulfilling, more vibrant, and safer – that is, lesser risk of falls- than any medicines your doctor can offer. My friend, Megan Senger, a freelance writer on fitness and wellness, just got an article published inRead More

Dr Irv continues to preform miracles on my breaking body. He fixed my knees and back when I first started ... now they are pain free. I continued my sports activities, and he fixes the new problems this 67 year old body encounters. Walking 105 holes of golf in 5 days, bike riding the 120 mile Jack and Back, volleyball and pickle ball are still my current activities.

His exercise equipment and facilities are always very clean. The exercise programs always vary and keep you on your toes. Challenge him and he'll kick your butt, but if you are hurting anywhere ... he'll make sure to strengthen and improve your problem area.

5 stars! Irv has been a delight to work with over the years. He is always accommodating of my schedule and gives me a great workout! He does more than just train me 2 days a week, he answers all my health questions via email 24/7 and sends me articles he knows are relevant to me and my lifestyle. He is a great friend and trainer.
