Anyone who’s ever pulled an all-nighter knows you tend not to eat, or drink, healthy stuff as the night wears on. But even if you don’t intend to stay up all night, if you have insomnia at times or the baby cries out frequently, it’s worth noting that some of the same metabolic events occur that lead to excessive overeating of less-than-healthy foods. Kinda like when you smoke pot. In fact, the same brain signalling occurs that pot provides: cannabinoids rise as you deprive yourself from sleep. In the brain, they’re called endocannabinoids. Pot is an exogenous form of cannabinoid – from outside the body.
So watch your sleep time carefully if weight loss is one of your wellness goals.
