Myth Busting #928 – Sweating Out Toxins Is Harder Than You Think

Many a fitness professional, including those who write, contribute or publish fitness and wellness articles, adhere to some voodoo beliefs that, occasionally, need debunking. For example, I just read an article in Lower Extremity Review about symmetry. That is, in medicine, therapy and fitness, there is a belief that things should be symmetrical between ourRead More

Fit Happens – Winter 2017

28 Steps to 28 Years of STEPS This December 11, 2017, marks the 28th year in business for STEPS Fitness. It was originally founded by a college colleague, Kathy Alexander, and I in 1986 as a concept. We opened our first gym in 1989, so that’s what I’d call our start date. Despite the corporateRead More

HAES it Going?

It’s intentional: HAES = Health at Every Size, a program to help overweight women come to grips with the lifestyle patterns that have contributed to their heaviness, but NOT by enforcing weight loss. Rather, it encourages finding – no, creating -new patterns of thinking, feeling, responding, and acting to stimuli – both external as wellRead More

Clarification and Addition

In an earlier post this evening, I referred to a study mentioned in the Tufts Nutrition Letter re calcium supplements not being beneficial to prevent heart disease. However, a Swedish study did show that calcium intake did correlate with reduced risk of heart disease in men. It was a very large epidemiological study which givesRead More

STEPS is the best Nashville gym ever and I have tried them all. The quality of the facility, equipment and most importantly, the trainers is superb. Give STEPS a try. They won't disappoint.

I met Dr. Irv through a friend of mine who totally transformed her health with his expertise. I had a hip replacement from a bad fall and I’ve struggled with tight hips, limited range of motion, bursitis and Arthritis. I turned 60 last fall and I knew if I was ever going to get better I had to go to someone that understood what I was dealing with. I knew I had the motivation, I just needed the right help. Irv was my answer. In my first assessment he knew quite quickly where I needed to work on my body to get my strength back and that range of motion I had been missing. I’m so happy to say I’m on my way and I feel 100% better because of what Irv has shown me for the right exercise, nutrition and complete wellness. I have found a new home for complete recovery at Steps and with Irv. I highly recommend to anyone who thinks their body will never be the same again to go here, see Irv and take your body and your life back!
